Bezelling is the first stage in creating a bezel cup and involves wrapping the glass in fine silver.
For this piece I used 3mm bezel wire. I wrapped the sterling silver bezel strip around the glass, cut a little over size and gently filed down the join to ensure a snug fit. Using the ‘third hand’ to hold in place I added flux to the join and the solder then heat the bezel strip to create a strong soldered join. The bezel is then quenched to cool and placed in pickling solution to remove fire-scale.
After pickling, the silver is washed in water and wire-brushed to remove any remaining fire-scale.
