Making a Heart of Glass
Sorting Seaglass

Collecting sea glass is a lengthy but enjoyable part of process and as I find each piece of glass I begin to shape my ideas of how it could be used within an item of jewellery.

When working on this heart I sorted through a collection of about 5000 pieces of glass looking for subtle but striking colours that matched the shape and dimensions that i needed to compliment this design. For the glass to be with this design pieces had to be a depth of between 2.5 and 3.5mm and shaped to fit neatly within the silver heart. At the end of this process i was left with about 6 pieces that were suitable.

I particularly liked this piece because of it’s striking pale blue colour which is quite rare and also it’s smooth contours.
